“Adventure Mongolia, South Gobi and Lake Baikal, Siberia” We were two retired adventurous women from the United States whose destinations were Mongolia and Lake Baikal, Siberia - 17 days in September 2012. Initially, we were a little anxious using a travel agency, Selena Travel, that did not have a direct United States contact. However, over several months, through the Internet, personal contacts and numerous e-mails back and forth with Selena Travel, they indeed won our trust. Selena Travel responded promptly to our e-mails. They were patient, professional, detail-oriented and knowledgeable coordinating our wishes and their recommendations that ultimately provided to us a fabulous travel experience exceeding all expectations. Our trip included touring Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia; west toward Karakorum, the ancient capital city of Mongolia; then east to Hustai National Park, renowned for its successful reintroduction of the Przewalski horse; south to the Gobi Desert; back to Ulaanbaatar and north on the Trans-Siberian Railroad to Irkutsk, Siberia; and on to Lake Baikal, Siberia, the earth's deepest and oldest freshwater lake. For much of the trip, we were just two passengers, an English-speaking tour guide, private car and experienced driver. What a way to travel! Mongolia is not an easy country to visit. It is not a clean, glitzy, fancy, unpolluted, sophisticated English-speaking region. Also, from the U.S., a Russian visa was arduous to obtain. However, if you desire a fun, unique experience; are open to learning about different and mostly unspoiled cultures, e.g., foods, sleeping in gers (tent-like structures); accept with bright eyes bumpy stretches of vastness; then, you will enjoy a Mongolian//Siberian trip planned at a reasonable cost by Selena Travel! From the steppes of Mongolia, the spinning wheels of Buddhist believers, the colors and images inside decades old monasteries, sounds of horse-head Mongolian fiddlers, taste of yak-butter tea to the sight of sheep and camel herds with their nomadic owners, our trip was a feast for all senses! I highly recommend Selena Travel, especially trip coordinator, Crystal, and tour guide, Davaa, for their pride and commitment showing foreigners this fascinating and unique region of the world. Just wanted to tell you that Megan and I greatly enjoyed our tour out to Dadal and back. Probably one of the nicest aspects of the tour was our guide and driver. Ganaa was exceptionally knowledgable not only about the various sites but also about Mongolia itself. Baaska was a truly magnificent driver in all kinds of terrain and with all kinds of challenges. Plus these two were clearly a great team. We were so lucky to have them both. Thank you very much. Happy Children's Day. Megan and I are off to see a noon concert of Mongolian fiddlers. Dan

Jun 26, 2008. Holiday with Nomadic family In the event you haven't noticed it, I have a love affair going with Mongolia. My third visit within two years clinched it for me. I can't think of a better place to spend my vacations than your country. As in prior years, my fourth Holiday with Nomadic Family was an unmitigated success. Ariunaa tirelessly translated, cooked and cared for me and educated me about the intricacies of Mongolian culture. The Ganbolds and their friends made me a member of their horse racing team and we had the best time preparing our horses for Naadam. More than anything else, it is their friendship that will bring me to Mongolia over and over again. I thank you Zola for all your assistance and support. Count me in again for next year!
