Young Tourism Professionals of Mongolia Competed

Young Tourism Pro or YTP is an annual competition among 3rd year students majoring in tourism management or English. The students’ competition was initiated and organised by Selena Travel - one of leading travel companies of Mongolia. Final stage of YTP 2015 was held on 21 March and the winners were announced. The winning team consisted of B. Erdenebulgan (Mongolian National University), G. Nyamjargal (National University of Mongolia), and N. Dashbaljinnyamaa (Ikh Zasag International University).

We are suggesting you to visit the beautiful Lake Huvsgul – so called the Blue Pearl of Mongolia. And I know it’d sound quite extreme - it must be freezing cold out there! The pristine Lake Huvsgul is 2 million years old, and makes up to 1% of the world’s total fresh water reserve. The Huvsgul stretches for 136km in the Alpine-like mountains, and the deepest point of the lake is 262m. The Huvsgul region itself is a home to the Tsaatan – Reindeer Herders of Mongolia, an ethnic group famous for their distinctive lifestyle based on keeping reindeers in the depth of the Taiga.

Mongolia welcomes 3 millionth citizen

Travellers often ask “what is the population of Mongolia” and we used to answer “we’re almost 3 million”. Now we’re officially 3 million as Mongolia welcomes her 3 millionth citizen! The important person is a baby girl born in the morning of 24 January 2015 in Dalanzadgad town in the South Gobi. She was born to a young couple by the name of Azzaya & Khatanbold. Congratulations, Mongolia!

It’s been already 15 years passed since the first Golden Eagle festival in Bayan-Olgi province of Western Mongolia. Today, the Golden Eagle festival is one of the biggest festivals in Mongolia after the Naadam festival in Jul and this year about 72 Eagle hunters have participated and 400 – 500 visitors watched the festival when it was only 6 Eagle hunters and ~ 30 visitors arrived for the first time in 1999.
