Sending you some of our nicer pictures. Some are chosen for their beautiful scenery while the rest are just us happily playing and goofing around. There are a couple of shots of us doing some Mongolian wrestling, as suggested by Oyuna since we missed out on the mini-Naadam festival. She said since we missed it, we might as well organise our own festival by playing some Mongolian games. Haha... We had so much fun playing those games!!! :)OK, I hope you like the pictures we send you. Best regards to everyone at Selena Travel and thank you once again for all your assistance.

  • Jul 11, 2012. Gobi & Karakorum customized 13 days tour with Naadam Festival

Having arrived back home, I cannot thank you enough for arranging our unbelievable journeys in Mongolia! Please know that we were thrilled with each adventure, and I am hopeful that I can return again, as soon as next summer.

We have memories as expansive as the lands we saw. In the Gobi, Bayarmaa was a lovely guide -- we especially appreciated her expertise when visiting the Flaming Cliffs. She also showed us nesting lammergeiers -- they are HUGE, and we were so grateful that she spotted them! Driver "Hulday" (pardon my spelling) was terrific. His Furgon was as clean as could be, and by taking dozens of photos through the crystal-clear windows, I have many wonderful sights of the nomads, dunes, animals, birds, and vast areas of that region. I was thrilled that my small luggage fit easily on the EZNIS flights. We also thought that the ger camps in the Gobi were among the best that we visited.
When Ari and Oggie met us in UB, we thought we had won the jackpot! Oggie was a safe, patient, and considerate driver -- outstanding skills in a city with such tremendous traffic. Ari was, by far, the most considerate, companionable, bright, humorous, and savvy of all of our guides (including the 8 more that we would meet during our tour in China). She consistently had our best interests in mind, and spoke English with a total command of the language. Ari excelled in her duties and responsibilities as our guide. She was forever patient with our many questions and photo opportunities, and made intelligent suggestions and offered assistance whenever our plans (or the weather) changed. It is only because of her intelligence and knowledge that we regard her as a "guide" because, in may ways, we left feeling as though we had made a lifelong friend. I commend her to you most highly, and thank you so much for putting us in her charge. Should you be in contact with her, please thank her for her excellent care and a bounty of incredible memories.
It was a pleasure and an honor to meet you and your mother, during the Naadam Festival. In every way, your arrangements and accommodations for our trip were perfect, and I've returned with the joy of sharing my travels with friends whom -- I hope -- will contact you in the future about their own trips. Although my friend Susan, with her group, enjoyed herself (and I thank you for making it possible for us to meet one another), I honestly believe that our little group had the best of all worlds: lovely overnight arrangements at the Bayangol and at the ger camps, spectacular good fortune in seeing more than 20 of the Takhi horses at Hustai, coming upon a local Naadam horse race and then seeing parts of the main race from the road, traveling to Tuvkhun in both hail and sunshine, enjoying the stadium festivities and getting "up close and personal" at the ankle bone shooting and archery competitions, seeing yaks/camels/sheep/goats/large birds at every turn, as well as magnificent green fields and gorgeous mountains. The skies and clouds were more magnificent than anywhere else in the world!
We were so taken with the area around Gun-Galuut! You were right -- it was a perfect place to ride horses. Most vividly, I will never forget stopping at the gate when we left and receiving a beautifully-embellished felt bag from Ariyuna, who had been so wise and helpful in locating several argali sheep during our visit. Her children are lovely. I was quite overwhelmed by her kindness and her gifts, and must ask that you please let her know how special I felt, to receive such a gift of hospitality, skill, and generosity. If I can return to Mongolia, I will travel first to Gun-Galuut and thank her again! It was an honor to have received something so meaningful and so precious. Please tell her I will never forget this.
Forgive me for rambling on and on, but I was quite taken with your lovely country! Know that we are indebted to you and Selena Travel for a fantastic trip, and I hope our paths will cross again. Should you ever need information about the United States, or a place to stay in California, do not hesitate to contact me!

As to my stay in Mongolia, I had a fabulous time and the tours definitely exceeded my expectations. Ulziisaikhan did a superb job with the itinerary. From the time he and the driver picked me up alongside the train to when I was dropped off at the railway station I always felt that I was in good hands.

Ulziisaikhan was not only incredibly knowledgeable and a walking Mongolia history book, but he was also entertaining, funny, and a good travel companion. I have had so many people ask for pictures (and as your guide knows, I took a lot) that I am currently building a website of the entire trip and it will feature my time in Mongolia because it was the most memorable. I will also recommend Selena to anyone desiring to do a similar trip. You have a very professionally managed organization and take wonderful care of your clients. Mongolia was definitely the highlight of my three country trip and I will have fond memories of my trip for the rest of my life.

I should also add that the driver did a great job too. We covered a lot of miles together and he was safe and very accommodating regarding my requests to stop for pictures, etc.
We didn not have much time for shopping so I was glad that we made the stop at the cashmere shop. I purchased 6 scarves that have been very well received by the recipients. Exceptionally soft and high quality. Better than any I have seen in the U.S. They were also very easy to carry since I did nothave much extra space. I traveled with 2 backpacks this time plus a camera bag so I didn t have any room for any large purchases.

For gifts for the children, I took several finger puppet animals I bought on ebay. The children we gave them too were all very happy. I enjoyed meeting the Mongolian families.
Finally, your choice for a hotel was absolutely perfect. The room was nice and clean, the staff pleasant, and wi-fi was always available. It was also well-located. I took walks in the evening to the pizza parlor, etc. I would be glad to put the above in your form if you like. Dont know why I couldn t open it.

We hope this note finds you well and enjoying being home at Ulaanbataar!

We wanted to send you a “THANK YOU!!” for all the arrangements you made on our behalf. Our “Discover Mongolia Tour” was wonderful. We enjoyed visiting the different towns and experiencing the beautiful scenery of Mongolia.

We currently are touring in China. Afterwards, we will go to Australia, Dubai, Greece and Spain before we return to the USA in mid-November. When we do arrive home, we plan to put our photographs and trip diary on our website. We will contact you when the information is posted and confirm that it is okay if we include a link to Selena’s website.  Also, we plan to send printed photographs to your attention to Selena’s office. They will include pictures of you, Joe, Jak, Bataa and Batcha. We will send enough copies and ask that you give each person in the photograph one of them. We will send you an email to let you know when we mail the package so that you will know when to expect to receive it.
Again, thank you for all your efforts on our behalf!

  • Jun 21, 2011. Discover True Mongolia: departure Jun 21 - Jul 11 + Naadam add on

Now that we are home in Thailand, we want to thank you for all of your help in arranging our Discover True Mongolia tour this past month. We had an absolutley fantastic time, from beginning to end, on our recent trip to Mongolia. Many thanks, too, go to our tour team of Joe, Sodoo and Hoyga. We could not have been more pleased and impressed with their constant attention to detail and comfort for their guests. We had so many good belly laughs with our group of travelers, tour leader and drivers; they made this trip a dream come true. We have long wanted to go to Mongolia and am so pleased to have seen and experienced all that we did with Selena Travel.

  • Jun 21, 2011. Discover True Mongolia: departure Jun 21 - Jul 11 + Naadam add on

We have recently returned to Australia after spending 21 days on a Discover True Mongolia Tour, visiting many parts of Mongolia on a 4,100 klm trip. This was a trip we thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish - it has also given us memories of the land and its people that we will hold in our hearts forever.

Transport was provided in Mitsubishi Delica 4WD wagons, which provided both comfort and large clear windows, through which we could be guaranteed to see all the wonderful sights Mongolia had to offer. Our tour team consisted of an English speaking guide Joe, together with two wonderful drivers Sodoo and Huygaa. These three young men played a huge part in the fact that our trip was both enjoyable and memorable.

Thank you Crys, Joe, Sodoo and Huygaa for the trip of a lifetime - we hope one day to return to your beautiful country.

  • Jun 15, 2011. Horse Trekking from Tuul to Kherlen

Just to let you know that we had a wonderful time during the trip. It was a very good horse trekking tour of getting a taste of the nomads' lifestyle, the Mongolian horses, the horse rides and the beautiful landscape. Complemented by the close attention given by Dorjo the tour guide, the horseman, the medical student cook and the retired army leutenant driver, I left Mongolia fully satisfied.

Terelj National Park was simply stunning, Gun-Galuut a sunset was captivating. The refreshing air was filled with nothing but sounds of bird chirping, horses galloping and sheep baaing. Patches of the green land were flooded with arrays of colorful flowers.

To describe the enjoyment of the trip and the beauty of Mongolia in such a short passage does not do justice to Chinggis Khan's homeland. The next best thing is to share my precious photos with others in order to feel my experience. Hope to return to the Land of blue skies soon.
